UC Berkeley Botanical Garden

Before seeing Uncle Vanya at Berkeley Rep, Inna and I decided to stop bt the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden in Berkeley, CA. She has heard a lot of wonderful things about this garden and we had never even been there!

The UC Botanical Garden is a living museum open to the public featuring one of the most diverse plant collections in the United States. The Garden's 34 acres is a sanctuary for more than 10,000 kinds of plants, many endangered or extinct, from all over the world.

Open daily 10 am-5 pm except Tuesdays. Plan your visit today: https://botanicalgarden.berkeley.edu

Once we reached the gardens (a one-hour drive from our home in San Jose), we paid for our parking (in the lot next to the gardens) and decided to explore the Redwood Grove first (as there was a noon wedding planned there).

After a short stroll around the grove, we entered the main garden. We saw a huge variety of plants and stopped by.

The Chinese-themed garden was very beautiful and the pond was full of Newts. We saw many small newts swimming in the water, but they were hard to see.

We really enjoyed our time in the UC Botanical Garden and hope to visit again.
