For Saturday night, Inna purchased tickets to Nobody Loves You - a musical hosted by ACT in San Francisco.
Before the 20:00 performance, we stopped by the Acropolis Greek Restaurant for dinner. After sitting down, we ordered the following items:
- Appetizers: Tzatziki with Pita, Greek Salad, Parthenon Ceviche
- Drinks: Sparkling Water, Golden State Apple Cider
- Boris: Lamb Souvlaki
- Inna: Moussaka
We were pleasantly surprised by the quick and attentive service, reasonably priced items, and food quality. I liked the Tzatziki with fresh Pita and the Lamb Souvlaki. Inna's Moussaka was excellent. The Greek Salad was delicious, too. The Parthenon Ceviche was tasty but slightly smaller than I expected.
After dinner, we thought about stopping at our favorite place for desserts and pastries: One65 (but we did not have enough time).
The main plot behind the show is as follows (courtesy of Perplexity AI):
"Nobody Loves You" is a musical comedy that satirizes reality TV dating shows. The story revolves around Jeff, a graduate student studying philosophy who despises reality TV. His girlfriend, Tanya, is obsessed with these shows, particularly one called "Nobody Loves You," where singles compete for romance. After Tanya breaks up with Jeff and auditions for the show, Jeff sends in an audition tape to win her back. However, when Jeff is selected but Tanya isn't, he decides to stay on the show to study the contestants' interactions for his dissertation.
On the show, Jeff meets Jenny, a wannabe documentarian stuck in a job she dislikes. Despite his initial reluctance and disdain for the show, Jeff becomes a fan favorite due to his unconventional and sarcastic approach. As the show progresses, Jeff and Jenny find common ground in their disdain for the superficial world around them, leading to an unexpected romance.
The musical explores themes of love, authenticity, and the manipulative nature of reality TV, all while maintaining a lighthearted and humorous tone. Itamar Moses and Gaby Alter created the musical, which has been performed at various theaters, including the American Conservatory Theater.
Overall, we enjoyed Nobody Loves You, a light-hearted comedy (good for a few laughs).
