During today's lesson with Gary, I focused on improving my forehand and backhand spacing. I have developed a bad habit of getting too close to the ball. I need have more space between me and the incoming tennis ball, so that I can execute a full forehand or backhand stroke.
Forehand
- Prepare early!
- Work on staying further away
- Keep feet further apart (wide stance)
- Bend the knees
- On low balls, bends the knees even further!
- Breathe out during the stroke
- Look at the ball
Backhand
- Prepare early!
- Work staying further away
- Keep feet further apart (wide stance)
- Bend the knees
- Make sure to continue the stroke low to high without stopping
