I can't believe that Alex is turning 21 years old!
To celebrate the momentous occasion, Inna and I purchased a few presents, followed by a delicious dinner at the Michelin-rated Selby's Restaurant in Redwood City.
For presents, I purchased the following items. Initially, Alex wanted to build a Gaming PC, but after numerous discussions, it seemed that a PlayStation 5 would be more suitable for his gaming needs.
- Sony PlayStation 5 Bundle (PS5 console, extra controller, charger, God of War game)
- Dell G3223Q UHD 32" Gaming Monitor (for use with Macbook Pro and PS5)
- Steel Series 1 Wireless Gaming Headset for PS5/PC
- Samsung 980 Pro 2TB SSD for PS5
- The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Complete Edition PS5
- Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut PS5
- Shorts
- Polo shirt
After arriving at Selby's Restaurant, at around 6:20pm, we parked our minivan by Valet (For free) and sat at our table in the main dining room on the first floor.
The restaurant was dark, and we were offered sparkling water as a refreshment. Looking at the menu, we ordered drinks and wine, followed by selections for the prix fixe menu ($98/person + 20% gratuity).
Our sommelier recommended the Austrian wine - Glatzer. I found it dry but of no exceptional quality (no better than your average $12 bottle of wine).
Drinks:
- Alex: White Russian (using Grey Goose Vodka) -1st drink!, followed by Champagne and wine
- Boris/Inna: Champagne, Austrian wine (Glatzer GV21)
Appetizers
- Share: Oyster on a Half-shell, Bread Rolls
- Alex: Heirloom Tomato Gazpacho
- Boris: Heirloom Tomato Gazpacho
- Inna: Yellowfin Tuna Tartare
- Alex: Beef Wellington
- Boris: Petite Filet (6 oz), fondant potatoes
- Inna: Honey Lacquered Duck Breast
Dessert:
- Alex: Chocolate Cake
- Boris: Chocolate Cake
- Inna: Vanilla Bean Panna Cota
I really enjoyed the Heirloom Tomato Gazpacho and the Petite Filet. The Gazpacho was delicious, and the Filet was tender.
Alex enjoyed his Beef Wellington, and Inna raved about her Duck Breast. Overall, we had a very delicious (but expensive meal).
