After returning from Boston (where I did not play tennis for May), I resumed my tennis practice at the Almaden Valley Athletic Club (AVAC).
Playing on the club's ball machine, I noticed that my forehand and backhand techniques have deteriorated, and I need additional help to improve them. I scheduled a video lesson with Ryan Reidy (2minutetennis.com) for June 8, 2022, at 18:00.
I used the following video for Ryan's review:
Forehand Side View
Forehand Rear View:
Ryan's Forehand Pointers
- During the preparation part of the swing, the right arm should be closed (like the arm and the racket are one)
- The Left arm finishes high as if hitting the wall and stops there
- The Right arm should finish way above the head and behind one's head (see Nadal video)
Ryan's Backhand Pointers
- The backhand should be closed more
- When the backhand is initiated, the knees should bend
- When swinging at the ball, use your legs to generate power against the ground
- Finish with the racket hitting one's back
