As I struggled with my consistency and power on my serve, Ryan Reidy from 2minutetennis evaluated my serve (using Zoom) and offered excellent pointers for improvement.
Serve Technique Improvements
- In the trophy position, swing the right arm like a lasso and engage the legs as the racket passes overhead
- Use abbreviated take-back, raise the right hand, keeping the racket, elbow, and shoulder all horizontal
- Need more pronation so that the right-hand goes 180 degrees
- The left hand should touch the chest (to add power) and stop the body rotation
- Elbow the enemy, try to hit the ball with the elbow
- Serve with the Birthday Hat on
