After using my GoPro Hero4 Silver and GoPro Hero7 Black for many years, I decided to upgrade to the latest GoPro Hero 10 Black bundle (for $399.99), hoping to increase video quality and stabilization.
I am just starting to use it now and will update this review once I have more time with the new GoPro.
Positives
- Better video quality
- Better video stabilization (Hypersmooth 4.0)
- Faster, more responsive operation
- Easier to change batteries (the battery door is on the side, so I can change batteries while still mounted on a tripod)
- The front screen can be used to help orient the camera
- Video tripod mode can be used to reduce battery drain
- Video quality is much improved from GoPro Hero 7 Black (especially in cinematic mode)
Negatives
- Larger body size than the GoPro Hero 7 Black
- Battery life is still relatively poor
- Batteries are larger and incompatible with Hero 7 and Hero 7 batteries
- Reports of frequent overheating and poor battery life
After recording multiple high-definition snowboarding videos at Palisades Tahoe, I concluded that the GoPro Hero 10 is significantly better (video quality-wise) than my older GoPro Hero 7.
