Blasting at Sherman Island

With a heavy wind forecast for Sherman Island by iWindsurf.com, I was eager to experience the strong summer winds (primarily absent this summer season).

iWindsurf.com predicted 20-25 knots of westerly wind throughout the day. It was already quite windy when I arrived, but only kiteboarders were blasting in the water. I rigged my Fanatic 105 FreeWave Stubby and my Ezzy Elite 4.5 sail (after talking to a few windsurfers who have been out earlier).

When I launched at around 14:00, the wind was quite gusty but not overly strong, and I was able to get planing, but I rigged my Ezzy too tight, and it was not providing enough low-end power. After a few runs, I re-tuned it for a more significant draft. I also switched to the 30" fin, as I was getting too much spin out.

With the new setup, I was windsurfing much better. Though overpowering many times, I could handle the robust and gusty wind on my Elite 4.5 sail.

Here is a video recorded on my GoPro Hero7 Black:

It was the best windsurfing day of the year! I windsurfed for 3 hours and had fantastic runs!
