Dartmouth Symphonic Band's Disneyland Trip

One of Alex's reasons for wanting to join the Symphonic Band at Dartmouth Middle School was to be able to participate in the annual Disneyland trip. He worked hard during 7th grade to prepare for his Symphonic Band audition and was finally admitted into the Symphonic Band in June of 2016.

During the Disneyland trip, the Symphonic Band got to play at Disneyland and California Adventure theme parks and record their musical performances to famous Disney movies and soundtracks.

The planned Disneyland Itinerary was as follows:

Wednesday, May 10th
Attire: comfortable, warm clothes

• 4:30pm: Chaperones arrive at Dartmouth
• 5:00pm: Students arrive at Dartmouth, check in luggage, turn in money and medications
• 5:30pm: Board buses
• 5:45pm: Depart Dartmouth
• 12:00am: Arrive at Red Lion Hotel, check in, get keys, appoint room captain, sleep

Thursday, May 11th

Attire: red polo shirts, shorts or pants, comfortable shoes

• 7:30am: Breakfast at Red Lion
• 8:30am: Walk to the entrance to Disneyland
• 9:00am: Walk to Toontown
• 9:30am: Meet Disney staff, a warm-up session
• 10:00am -11:30am: Recording Session
• 12:00pm: Meet chaperones at Toon Town, walk to Rancho del Zocalo
• 12 15pm - 4:15pm: Free time in Disneyland
• 4:15pm: Meet Rancho del Zocalo to walk back to the hotel
• 5:00pm - 5:30pm: Change, get ready for dinner
• 5:30pm: Board buses for Medieval Times Dinner Show
• 7:00pm - 9:00pm: Medieval Times Dinner Show
• 9:30pm - 10:30pm: Downtown Disney with Chaperone group
• 10:30pm - 11:00pm: Walk back to the hotel
• 11:30pm: Lights out!

Friday, May 12th
Attire: Black "Band" shirt. Wear long white socks and white underwear.

• 6:30am: Meet in the lobby
• 6:45am: Board buses to Goofy's Kitchen
• 7:00am - 8:15am - Character Breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen / Pictures
• 8:30am: Board buses
• 9:30am - 11:00am: Change into uniforms, group photo, warm-up, walk to Hollywood Backlot stage
• 11:00am - 11:30am: Performance Hollywood Backlot stage
• 11:30am - 12:00pm: Change clothes, load instruments on buses
• 12:00pm - 12:20pm: Walk to Minsters, Inc. to meet chaperones
• 12:20pm - 12:35pm: Walk to Pacific Wharf to check in place
• 12:35pm - 6:00pm: Free time in California Adventure
• 6:00pm: Check-in at Pacific Wharf to get dinner money
• 6:00pm - 7:00pm: Eat Dinner
• 7:00pm: Meet at Pacific Wharf to walk to Disneyland
• 7:15pm - 11:00pm: Free time in Disneyland
• 11:00pm: Meet at Rancho del Zocalo Restaurant, walk to the hotel
• 12:00pm: Lights out

Saturday, May 13th
Attire: Regular clothes (school and Disneyland dress code apply)

• 7:00am - 7:30am: Clean rooms, check out, load luggage
• 7:30am: Breakfast at Red Lion
• 8:30am: Walk to Disneyland with chaperones
• 9:00am - 1:00pm: Free time in Disneyland
• 1:00pm: Meet at Rancho del Zocalo Restaurant
• 1:00pm - 1:30pm: Walk to buses
• 2:00pm: Buses depart for San Jose
• 5:00pm: one-hour dinner stop in Button Willow
• 10:00pm: Arrive at Dartmouth
• 10:00pm - 10:30pm - Parents help unload buses
