Spring Concert at Dartmouth Middle School

Today, we attended the last performance of Dartmouth Middle School's Spring Concert - the second concert in 2017. Since he is graduating this year, Alex played trumpet for the last time with the Dartmouth Symphonic Band.

After the obligatory "Star-Spangled Banner," the Jazz Band opened the Spring Concert with "Listen Here" by Eddie Harris. This was followed by "Superstition" - a song made famous by Stevie Wonder. Finally, the band concluded with a rendition of Michael Jackson's famous "Billie Jean."

The Beginning Band took over next with three pieces. The first piece was "The Gold Rush of 1849" by Rob Grice. The second piece was "Too Beautiful for Words, " which Rob Grice arranged. The third piece was "Skygazer Fanfare" by Randall Standridge.

The Choir (led by Gina Jenkins), which had over 100+ student singers, took over next with "When You Believe" by Audry Snyder. It continued with a rendition of "Try Everything," made famous by Shakira. The Choir concluded with a favorite Billie Joel ballad, "Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)."

The Concert Band continued the concert with "Creed". The following piece, "Two British Folk Songs" by Elliot Del Borgo, was played. Finally, the Concert Band concluded with "The Adventure Begins!".

The Symphonic Band took over with "Winter on Emerald Bay" by Alan Lee Silva. The next exciting piece - "Cumberland Cross" was played. The third and my favorite piece was "Star Trek" (from the recent action film Star Trek Into Darkness). The Symphonic Band concluded with "Be Thou My Vision".

After the concert, the Symphonic played the "Mickey Mouse" them from Disney!
