After work (due to heavy traffic on 85), Inna and I decided to stop by for dinner on Castro Street in Mountain View.
We usually eat at our favorite Oren's Hummus Shop, but this time, we decided to be adventurous and try the nearby Bushido - a Japanese Sushi restaurant. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful, warm November weather. It's much quieter outside and reminded us of eating out in Seville and Paris.
Since the Happy Hour was still on, we ordered the "Harakiri Roll," two Meat Skewers: Beef Tongue and Thigh. We also ordered the famous "Bushido Roll," Miso Soup, and "Okonomiyaki," or Japanese pancakes.
The thing about the Harakiri roll is that one of the rolls is exceptionally spicy. (That's why it's called the Harakiri roll). It's like Russian Roulette - you don't know which one is spicy, and each one you taste could be the killer.
As luck would have it, Inna forgot about this tidbit and was extremely surprised when she picked the spiciest roll! She said that it was the spiciest thing she had ever eaten in her life! She recovered after drinking some green tea and water but was not a happy camper.
Eventually, she settled down and we continued our dinner with the meat skewers. The "Beef Tongue" skewer was delicious. We also liked the "Bushido" roll.
We were initially intrigued by Okonomiyaki. We had never eaten such pancakes before, which were quite strange. The insides contained crab meat, noodles, and dough. It was an exciting combination and particularly filling. We shared one pancake, and it was enough for the two of us.
We liked Bushido restaurant and plan to be back. However, I am not sure we will soon order the "Harakiri" roll.
